The Perfect Lake Martin Weekend Itinerary
A good Lake Martin weekend leaves room for the water, a memorable meal and plenty of time to slow down. This flexible itinerary balances local exploring with the comfort of a private dome.
Choose a Home Base That Is Part of the Trip
A good Lake Martin weekend begins with a place where you actually want to spend time. Auburn Glamping is a private 36-foot geodesic dome on 26 wooded acres in Dadeville, with 300 feet of Lake Martin waterfront and kayaks included for guests.
The dome sleeps six with one king bed and two queen beds. It also includes a full kitchen, full bathroom, heating, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, private hot tub, outdoor shower, fire pit, grill and deck. That means the weekend does not fall apart if the weather changes or everyone decides they would rather stay in.
Friday: Arrive and Exhale
Afternoon arrival
After checking in, take time to explore the dome and property before planning anything else. Walk the on-site paths, see the orchard, cross the creek bridge and find the hammock along the creek. The first hour is better spent settling in than rushing toward another destination.
An easy dinner
For coffee before an outing, we recommend Nirvana Latte in Dadeville or Wild Flour Bakery in Waverly. Keep dinner easy with Lake Martin Pizza Co.’s Dadeville location, or plan an evening at The Waverly Local or SpringHouse. Our restaurant and coffee recommendations also include Auburn stops for a day in town.
Prepare something simple in the full kitchen, use the grill or choose a Lake Martin-area restaurant. Availability and operating hours can change seasonally, so confirm current details directly with any restaurant before going.
Hot tub and fire
End the first evening in the private hot tub or around the fire pit. The point of Friday night is not to accomplish anything; it is to let the weekend begin.
Saturday: Lake Martin at Your Pace
A slow morning
Sleep late, make pour-over coffee and enjoy the wooded view through the 20-foot picture window. Couples may appreciate the king bed with bamboo sheets and multiple pillow options, while families can make breakfast without needing to get everyone out the door immediately.
Time on the water
Take the easy walk from the dome to Lake Martin for a paddle in the included kayaks, or relax in the floating water hammock available for guests. Always follow current property guidance, weather conditions and water-safety practices.
Choose one nearby adventure
Plan a guided horseback ride with The Stables at Russell Crossroads. Call 256-794-1333 to arrange a ride and check availability and rider requirements directly with the provider.
Rather than overloading the day, select one outing that fits your group. Possibilities around Lake Martin include hiking, boating, scenic drives, waterfront dining and exploring the Dadeville area. Check current hours, access rules and seasonal conditions before leaving.
Return before sunset
Coming back early leaves time for the hot tub, outdoor shower, dinner and fire pit. One of the advantages of a memorable home base is that returning to it feels like part of the vacation rather than the end of the day.
Sunday: One Last Quiet Morning
Keep the final morning simple. Make breakfast, walk to the creek, rest in the hammock or take photographs near the dome. If your plans allow, stop for lunch around Lake Martin or continue to Auburn before heading home.
